Extending Your Trip

If you’d like to explore before or after the wedding, here are a few popular options.

Be mindful that August is high season for the Gulf of Thailand, so book your flights, accommodation and ferries in advance.

A hidden gem of South Thailand. Quieter and a more local coastal town. Expect calm beaches, scenic drives, and relaxed resorts that make it easy to unwind.

It’s also known for boat tours to spot the area’s rare pink dolphins. Tours usually run as short day trips from the Khanom coastline for dolphin-spotting. Sightings vary (it’s wildlife), but it’s one of the most famous places in Thailand to try your luck.

The nature lovers retreat. Stay on a lake in a floating bungalow surrounded by limestone cliffs, or in jungle accommodation nearby.

Highlights:
Jungle hiking, canoeing/kayaking, elephant sanctuaries, and safari tours for wildlife sightseeing.

Well-known island destination. Koh Samui has plenty of activities: zip-lining, 4×4 jungle safaris, and ATV rides up to mountain viewpoints. There are also easy day tours and transfers to nearby islands if you’re chasing a quieter beach scene.

Where to stay:
Chaweng Beach: lively nightlife and high energy, or

Lamai Beach: a more relaxed scene with restaurants and cocktail bars.

Travel from Khanom includes a ferry, so book online and in advance.

If you’re staying on Koh Samui and want a snorkelling adventure, Ang Thong National Marine Park is a great option. Most visitors go via organised full-day speedboat tours from Koh Samui.

There are also quieter nearby islands where you can stay overnight and explore Ang Thong over multiple days such as Koh Phaluai.
